Why it is so close to France ? because it was a french colony till 1954 the french east India company established this town as their headquarters in 1674. and on 1 November 1954 this french India colony is transferred from French government to Indian union and established as the union territory of Pondicherry.
Official language of puducheri are Tamil, English and french.
